Nearly all winter motorists fail to properly recapture valuable heat energy from their vehicles. When you arrive at your domicile and have no further driving planned, park the car and then open the hood. Quickly scoop up as much warmth as you can, using resealable containers. Solo cups and saran wrap will work in a pinch. Now, you can store endless cubic meters of heat for later use.

If you have an attached garage, you might consider knocking down an adjoining wall, thereby creating what is known as an "eat-in-garage." This way, you can pop the hood at night and heat your entire home efficiently and cost-effectively.

They sell adaptors that fit over the open hood and pump that heat straight into the house.

"Man it's hot in here. What do you have the thermostat set to?"

"About 1/2 a gallon."
